Rebuilding
Q. What is a rebuild letter?
A.

A rebuild letter states that the existing structure on and a specific property can be rebuilt as originally constructed in case of damage or destruction.


Q. How do I request a letter?
A.

To request a letter please complete the Request Form and mail or fax the form to the Department of Community Development.  The Department will complete your request within 3 days of your request.

Non-Conforming Use
Q.

What is a non-conforming use?

A.

A non-conforming use is a use that lawfully existed prior to the enactment of a zoning ordinance or subsequent amendment to the ordinance and that is maintained, although it does not comply with the use restrictions applicable to the arena in which it is located.

What is the Zoning on a particular address? 

A.

To find the zoning for an address, follow the steps below:

  1. This website contains Zoning maps as well as ordinances and zoning classifications for the entire Village.  Click the underlined text in the previous sentence to access desired information, which will indicate what is allowed in particular zoning districts.

  2. For assistance with the navigating the website or questions dealing with land use, zoning, and existing/future development plans, stop by the Community Development Department or call 708-450-0429.

Acquiring Village Property
Q. How do I go about purchasing a Village owned site?
A. Download a Sales Initiation Form under the Community Development Official Form link on this website. This form will give you all the information you need in order to bid on Village owned sites.  Please remember all sales are subject to approval by the Board of Trustees and applicant(s) must not have any outstanding debts with the Village of Maywood.
