About Kim Johnson
Kim D. Johnson is a lifelong
resident of Maywood. A graduate of District 89 Garfield
Elementary and District 209 Proviso East High School, both
located in Maywood, she went on to attend Triton College and
Benedictine University.
Trustee Johnson is a widow who
has one daughter and two grandchildren she adores.
School District 89 has
employed Trustee Johnson for 20 years. She has worked as a
secretary at Emerson School for 13 years, one year at the
administration office as executive administrative assistant,
and the last six years as secretary at Washington School.
Trustee Johnson is an active
member of Rock of Ages Baptist Church where she serves as
Communion Coordinator and member of the Celebration of Life
Choir.
Trustee Johnson is very
involved with the library community and serves on multiple
levels. She is currently serving a third year of her
6-year term as Library District Board Trustee. She is the
past president of the Library District Board, having served
in that capacity from 2004 to 2007. On the state level,
Trustee Johnson is the president of the Illinois Library
Association Trustee Forum Board. On the national level, she
serves as Chairperson for the ALTA (American Library Trustee
Association) Specialized Outreach Services Committee, and is
the Coordinator of Education Committee Cluster, which
develops and evaluates the programs for state, regional, and
national conferences.
Trustee Johnson is an active
member of Maywood Chamber of Commerce, John C. Vaughan’s 100
Dollar Club, NOMCO, Proviso Township Democratic
Organization, Ladies Auxiliary American Legion John H.
Shelton Post 838 of Maywood as Benevolent/Historical
Secretary, Illinois Democratic Women’s Organization.
Trustee Johnson states, "As a
stakeholder in Maywood, I want to continue our mission of
“Maywood on the Move.” Our community is a nucleus of
extraordinary possibility because of its location to Chicago
and the western suburbs. In addition, our village is a
bounty of untapped resources that have the potential to make
Maywood economically strong, publicly and privately safe,
recreationally diverse, historically significant, and
culturally enriched. I will not give up on Maywood, and I am
honored that the citizens have entrusted me, and the all
elected officials, with the duties of carrying out the
mission to its completion." |
