MAYWOOD VILLAGE BOARD APPROVES HIRING OF A NEW VILLAGE MANAGER

 William Barlow Selected Unanimously

as Maywood’s Top Administrator

Bill Barlow

Village Manager

(Effective 9/26)

William Barlow, a 32-year veteran of municipal government, was chosen as the new village manager by the Maywood Board of Trustees at a special board meeting last night.  Maywood’s village manager position has been vacant since January when Jason Ervin was appointed Alderman of the 28th Ward in Chicago after serving as Maywood’s top administrator for five years.  Joseph Ponsetto has been serving as Maywood’s interim village manager.

Barlow, whose resume includes village manager of Winfield, city manager of Xenia, Ohio, and city manager of Rolling Meadows, presently is the interim village manager for Pingree Grove, Il.  Barlow, whose official start date will be September 26, will be paid $105,000 annually.

“William Barlow brings to our village a wealth of experience and a diverse background from serving with distinction in municipal government,” stated Maywood Mayor Henderson Yarbrough Sr.  The mayor added that Barlow demonstrated “an ability to relate well to employees, an extensive knowledge of city management, and a proactive and collaborative style that will enable Maywood to continue to provide its residence excellent service.”

Barlow, who earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of Kansas, looks forward to serving as Maywood’s village manager.  “I was drawn to this position by both the potential and the challenges of Maywood,” he exclaimed, “and I look forward to engaging with the residents and working on issues including finances, property maintenance and redevelopment.”
