CEASEFIRE WEEK
HIGHLIGHTED BY
FESTIVITIES ALL
DAY ON JUNE 25
Maywood
CeaseFire hosts
its 5th
annual CeaseFire
Day on Saturday,
June 25 from 11
a.m. to 9 p.m.
on the Prairie
Path between 11th
Avenue and 17th
Avenue in
Maywood. Free
food and
entertainment,
as well as
activities for
all ages, are on
tap.
A three-on-three
basketball
tournament at
Winfield Scott
Park, 19th
and Maywood
Drive, will take
place between
noon and 4 PM on
that day.
Community
organizations,
municipal
departments and
agencies are
urged to set up
information
tables during
the
festivities.
Maywood Site
Manager Janice
Mitchell Bolling
urges all
residents of
Maywood,
Bellwood and
Broadview to
attend CeaseFire
day. “We have
worked with more
than 475 clients
providing
alternatives to
violence for our
youth,” Bolling
stated.
CeaseFire Day is
a time to
“continue to
work together to
end street
violence in all
forms,” she
added.
CeaseFire week
kicks off with a
gathering in La
Follette Park in
the Austin
community in
Chicago on
Saturday, June
18. On
Wednesday, June
22, the Maywood
CeaseFire unit
will set up
information
tables and be
available to
talk to
patients,
visitors and
staff at Loyola
Hospital. The
next day, movies
will be shown
all day starting
at noon at
Maywood
CeaseFire’s
headquarters,
1100 S. 11th
Avenue.
