Maywood Trustee Kimberly Johnson was appointed to the 2011 Public Safety and Crime Prevention (PSCP) Policy and Advocacy Committee.  NLC’s PSCP committee establishes municipal policy in the areas of crime prevention, corrections, substance abuse, juvenile justice, disaster preparedness and relief, homeland security, domestic terrorism and gun control.

Maywood Trustees Melvin Lightford and Marcias Scaggs were appointed to the 2011 International Council.  NLC’s International Council helps develop recommendations on policy and advocacy strategies that address international issues significant to municipal governments in the United States.

Each NLC policy and advocacy committee has a membership of approximately 100 officials from cities and towns throughout the nation. The National League of Cities is the nation’s oldest and largest organization devoted to strengthening and promoting cities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance. NLC is a resource and advocate for 19,000 cities, towns and villages, representing more than 218 million Americans.
