THREE ROAD
IMPROVEMENT
PROJECTS
NEAR
COMPLETION IN
MAYWOOD
Work Progressing
in Fifth Avenue
Business
District, 9th
Avenue
Resurfacing
South of the
Expressway, and
9th Avenue Water
Main Replacement
Capital improvement
projects continue to
move toward
completion in
Maywood with three
major construction
jobs scheduled to
finish by the middle
of this summer.
The 5th Avenue
Improvement project
will provide a major
facelift from Quincy
Street to Lake
Street. By the end
of May, final
placement of brick
pavers should be
complete and
preparations for the
final layer of
asphalt will begin.
Additionally, some
traffic signal work
and work around the
Union Pacific
Railroad grade
crossing will be
completed as well.
Pavement markings,
tree plantings and
installation of
signs will be the
last items addressed
on the project.
Work is currently
under way on
replacing water
mains on 9th Avenue
from Main Street to
the northern village
limits. Completion
is expected in
June.
The resurfacing of
9th Avenue from
Roosevelt Road to
Bataan Drive is
moving forward. The
project includes
replacing sections
of defective curb
and gutter, drainage
structure
improvements,
milling of the
pavement, base
repair and
resurfacing of the
roadway.
