MAYWOOD PAROLEE CHECK NETS

SEVEN GUNS AND ELEVEN ARRESTS

Maywood police, aided by Illinois Department of Corrections, Illinois State Police and US Marshals Great Lake Regional Task Force, arrested eleven parolees and seized seven guns in a compliance check yesterday afternoon.  A total of 47 parolees were targeted by local police with 28 brought into the police department.  Sixteen tested positive for illegal drug use.

Of those taken into custody, three had guns in their possession—one had two handguns; one had four weapons including a 12-gauge shotgun; and one had a 25-caliber Beretta handgun loaded with eight rounds of ammunition.

Mayor Henderson Yarbrough Sr. praised yesterday’s collaborative effort to fight crime in Maywood.  “It is this continuous collaborative pro-active police enforcement that has made our community safer.  In behalf of our residents, I thank all of those police officials who were involved in yesterday’s very successful action.  Getting criminals and guns off of our streets is our highest priority,” he concluded.

The following were arrested:

  • Devon Fields—tested positive for cocaine, found cocaine in his possession along with a stun gun and two 9 MM rounds—received new felony charges for PCS and UUW.  Turned over to Maywood PD for processing on new charges.  IDOC warrant was issued

  • Wayne Edwards—tested positive for THC, had a .25 caliber Beretta handgun in his possession loaded with 8 rounds of ammunition—received new charges for felony UUW and was turned over to Maywood PD for processing on the new charges.  IDOC warrant was issued.

  • Eli Fisher—tested positive for THC, had in his possession a 12-gauge shotgun, a 30/30 rifle, a .22 rifle and a .32 revolver-- received new charges for felony UUW and was turned over to Maywood PD for processing on the new charges.  IDOC warrant was issued

  • Therman Goodlow—Early Release prisoner tested positive for THC and Cocaine, found in his possession a .25 Rueger handgun and a .357 Rueger handgun— received new charges for felony UUW and was turned over to Maywood PD for processing on the new charges.  IDOC warrant was issued

  • Darryl Smith—tested positive for morphine and cocaine—IDOC warrant was issued and he was returned to Stateville NRC

  • Cedric Grantham—tested positive for morphine-- IDOC warrant was issued and he was returned to Stateville NRC

  • Tavel Eiland—tested positive for THC, cocaine and morphine-- IDOC warrant was issued and he was returned to Stateville NRC

  • Lamont Parker—found in his possession cannabis—given a NTA and I-Bonded out. IDOC warrant was issued and he was returned to Stateville NRC

In addition, eight parolees testing positive for some illegal substance were turned over to a parole supervisor for sanction.  One parolee provided information on a shooting and one parolee provided information on local drug dealers.
