MAYWOOD
POLICE SPEARHEAD TWO
SPECIAL OLYMPICS
FUNDRAISING EVENTS
The Maywood Police
Department will
participate in two
fundraising events
for Special Olympics
next week.
On Thursday, June 4,
five local police
departments will be
in the 2009 Illinois
Law Enforcement
Torch Run starting
at 1:30 PM at
Madison and Austin.
Along with Oak Park,
Forest Park,
Bellwood and
Hillside, the
Maywood Police
runners will cover
5.5 miles down
Madison all the way
to Mannheim in
Bellwood.
As the runners past
the different
villages, the torch
will be passed to
the respective
police department
competitors.
Competitors will
solicit donations
for the Special
Olympics. For

On Saturday, June 6,
the police
department, in
collaboration with
the Village of
Maywood Special
Events Commission,
will present
“Maywood Bike the
Path.” This
fundraiser for
Special Olympics
will start at 11
a.m. at the entrance
to the Illinois
Prairie Bike Path at
First Avenue.
Bikers will end in
Hillside.
Registration fee is
$3 for adult bikers
and $2 for youth.

On May 22, the
Maywood Police
Department
participated in
“Cops on Tops,” a
Special Olympics
fundraising event
held at the Dunkin
Donuts in
Broadview. More
than $1000 was
collected from that
effort.
