OPERATION
SUMMER HEAT
24 Warrants
Arrest Gangster
Disciples and
Drug Dealers in
Maywood
Maywood,
Illinois – The
Village of
Maywood Police
Department
executed 6 (six)
search warrants
and 24
(twenty-four)
arrest warrants
at approximately
6:00 a.m. Friday
morning July 25,
2008. The
warrants
targeted
members of the
Gangster
Disciples street
gang and local
drug dealers for
the delivery of
controlled
substances
within 1000 feet
of a school or
church. During
the five-month
undercover
investigation
tiled ‘Operation
Summer Heat’;
undercover
officers used
state-of the art
video
surveillance
equipment and
creative
techniques.
The operation
was conducted
under the
direction of the
Maywood Police
Gang and
Narcotics Unit
in a coordinated
tactical effort
with United
States Marshalls
Fugitive Task
Force, Illinois
State Police TRT
Unit, Cook
County Sheriff’s
Gang Unit, Cook
County States
Attorney’s
Office, and
local Police
Departments
Hillside and
Broadview .
These agencies
assisted Maywood
in the execution
of the search
and arrest
warrants. Any
of the wanted
individuals who
were not located
will remain
listed on the
warrants until
they are picked
up and brought
to justice.
If convicted,
those arrested
today all face
Class I
non-probationary
felonies which
carry a
mandatory
sentence of 4 -
15 years’
imprisonment.
Half of the
identified
warrants will be
upgraded to
Class X felonies
which carry a 6
to 30 year
maximum prison
sentence. A
Class X felony
doubles the
normal prison
sentence for
repeat offenders
(those convicted
of two or more
Class II
felonies.
A
Press Conference

today (Friday,
July 25, 2008)
at 10:00 a.m.,
in the Council
Chambers above
the Maywood
Police
Department.
