STAYED INFORMED

Starting Spring 2010, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will begin to resurface approximately 14 miles of Interstate 290 (Eisenhower Expressway) from Interstate 88 to Interstate 90/94 (Circle Interchange) within Cook County.  The goal of the resurfacing project is to restore a smooth, safe ride for the motoring public.

The scope of work includes milling and resurfacing the driving surface, shoulders and all exit and entrance ramps.  The work will be achieved by permanent lane closures and temporary nighttime lane closures  The work will be completed in one construction season beginning Spring 2010 and anticipated to be completed in the Fall 2010.  Major impacts to the motoring public are anticipated.

A website has been created and will be maintained throughout the project.  The website is an important avenue through which local residents, businesses, commuters and visitors to the region can stay informed about the project

The Interstate 290 Resurfacing Project website can be accessed at www.dot.il.gov/I290/index.html. IDOT has also created a dedicated phone line for the Interstate 290 Resurfacing Project: 1-847-705-4696.
